I just finished a unit about House and Furnishing with my cycle two students. We had such a great time doing this project...Boys really liked it...They were really motivated....Girls liked to decorate their house...so did I!

First, I asked pupils to build a house in teams of two. I asked them to use recycled shoe boxes or any other recycled materials made of plastic or cardboards.

Here is the house I made to show them an example. I used Scrapbooking papers to create tapestries.

I went on Ikea's and Sears' Websites to order their catalogs...Free shipping!

Here are the evaluation grids that I use to evaluate the three competencies.

I asked students to play Go Fish.
Here's the final result! I displayed all my students' house project in the hallway. I'm so proud of them and I really wanted others to see the great work they have done.

Here is a worksheet where students have to write about their favorite room of their house.

I created more worksheets to I used to work on prepositions of place.

I found this video on Youtube if you use Tiny Twist:

We played this interactive board game. Click on the picture below and you'll be automatically directed to this cool Website.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to give me a shout out. I really love to read your comments.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Christine (English teacher in Squatec, lac-des-Aigles and Biencourt) Perhaps you know about these places... :) See ya!

  2. Hello Miss Valerie,

Two teachers and I have made some teacher's notes for your house project. I have also adapted your document to accomodate a multi-level 3-4-5 adaptation scolaire class. I respectfully ask for written permission to share this project with other esl teachers. I saw that you had put the project on TPT, I had downloaded it when you had it on this page.

Thank you for responding to this message positively,
    Christine Baida (cbaida @cslaval.qc.ca)
